The power system consists of six 12 volt sealed AGM batteries for a 72 volt drive system.
That 72 volts DC is converted by an on-board DC to AC 3 phase converter as you drive. One of the unique features of this car is the fact that it uses a 6 kilowatt AC 3 phase motor, rather than a DC motor. Even with the conversion loss from DC to AC, the mechanical conversion efficiency of an AC motor is better than that of a DC motor, increasing the range.

The sealed lead-acid batteries are 150 AH (amp-hour) and require no maintenance other than keeping them charged. The on-board intelligent charger works with any 20 AMP standard electrical outlet. A GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) is highly recommended. Most home garages are already equipped with this, and if not it is a simple part to add, usually under $20 and 20 minutes to install.
